Philadelphia Regional Finals for the
National History Bee

On Friday evening, April 20, Mrs. Sycalik traveled with seven AGCS seventh and eighth graders to compete in the Philadelphia Regional Finals for the National History Bee at Moorestown Friends School in New Jersey.

The competitors enjoyed a walk though Moorestown and a team pizza dinner before heading into the competition where they absolutely rocked it! Team AGCS included seventh graders Alaina, Patrick and Charlie, as well as eighth graders Aaftab, Robby, Tim, and Joshua. Each team member took a 50-question exam and then competed in two classroom buzzer rounds. A few of our students took the optional exam for the National Geography Olympiad as well.

AGCS is very proud to report that we have SIX NATIONAL QUALIFIERS who were offered invitations to compete in this year's National History Bee Championship on June 1-2 in Atlanta, Georgia. Congratulations to Aaftab, Alaina, Charlie, Joshua, Patrick and Robby!

Additionally Alaina, Patrick, Charlie and Aaftab qualified for the National Geography Olympiad. Joshua also placed among the top eight regional qualifiers who competed for the title of Philadelphia Regional Champion; while he did not take the top spot in this ultra-stiff final round, he is the first AGCS student to earn a top-eight finisher's medal!

On behalf of the AGCS Community, CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team on your outstanding performance!!
